One Book - One School

Dear Families,

We are excited to announce the start of our One Book, One Movie, One School project! This schoolwide reading initiative brings students, staff, and families together through a shared story. This year’s choice is Because of Winn-Dixie.  Every household will receive a copy of the same book, and we invite you to read along with us over the next several weeks.

Along with the book, you will find a reading schedule below that outlines which chapters to read each week. Multiple choice questions sheets are included for the students to complete.  Students will be asked to submit their answers on Mondays except following the long weekend.  Students who participate will receive points for their respective teams.  There will also be prizes awarded at the end for individual participation.  Reading at home ensures your child can fully participate and enjoy these experiences.

We encourage you to set aside a regular time to read together as a family. You can read aloud, take turns, or listen to your child read—whatever works best in your home. Talking about the story and answering the questions as you go helps build understanding and makes the experience more meaningful.

Our goal is to build a strong reading community, spark conversations, and help students develop a lifelong love of books. Thank you for joining us in this shared adventure. We look forward to reading with you!  At the end, a school wide viewing of the movie will occur for all the students.
